This one-day course focuses on the theoretical background and application of EN12810-1 and EN12811-1 on scaffolding structures. Based on practical examples, participants will learn how to use SCIA Engineer for scaffolding and coupler design. This training is geared towards advanced users or existing users of SCIA Engineer.
Course Objective
Efficient and autonomous use of SCIA Engineer for scaffolding design. Correctly set up a scaffolding model with couplers, and competently use the design tools in SCIA Engineer. Completion will give attendees the ability to deal with complex scaffolding structures.
Who Should Attend?
Existing software users or past participants of our SCIA Engineer Fundamentals training course. It is an excellent course for existing users who want to use SCIA Engineer for scaffolding design.
Pre-requisites
- Confidently able to create basic 3D frame models (composed of 1D members in 3D space) and review results using SCIA Engineer
- Installation of the latest release of SCIA Engineer (click here and download the latest SCIA Engineer release)
- Licence for SCIA Engineer Scaffolding Edition or access to the scaffolding module
- A training licence can be provided with prior arrangement (min 1 working day notice required)
- A stable internet connection
What Knowledge Will You Gain?
Our trainer will guide you in modelling and designing scaffolding quickly and effectively, taking the specific code requirements into account. Participants will gain understanding in:
- Modelling of scaffold constructions in SCIA Engineer
- Practical applying EN12810-1 and EN12811-1 requirements in SCIA Engineer
- Knowing when and how to perform advanced analyses (general buckling and 2nd order)
- Correct and efficient modelling of couplers
- Interpreting the results correctly

Training Details
- The training course is presented live by an experienced engineer from SCIA's Customer Connection Team.
- Training is interactive; each participant will use the software. Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to attempt exercises to consolidate your learning, allowing time to ask questions.
- This course will be restricted to small groups of 10 people to maintain the best quality and allow interaction between the trainer and participants.
- Certificates provided after attending the entire training course.
